Aims and Objectives

The aim of the Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education is 'To promote the improvement of statistical education, training and understanding at all ages'.

Work to support this aim will be carried out in four main areas:

  1. school and further education;

  2. higher education for all courses in which statistics is taught;

  3. continuing professional development including all who use statistics as part of their professional life;

  4. society as a whole.

Although based in the UK the Centre has an international role.

  • working with the Higher Education Maths, Stats and OR Network www.mathstore.ac.uk;
  • creating resources to help teachers of statistics in HE.

3. Our current continuing professional development work includes:

  • the RSS-accredited CERTIFICATE IN TEACHING STATISTICS (up to Pre-university Level);
  • the RSS-accredited Certificate in Teaching Statistics in Higher Education.

4. Our work for improving statistical education in scoiety as a whole includes:

  • working with government statistics offices in Africa.
